Camping is an activity that many people love. Camping in an RV makes this activity even more enjoyable. Even though your RV offers many great amenities while camping, it's likely that this is a time that you want to travel light and enjoy as much of the great outdoors as possible, without the use of harsh chemicals or other items that can have a negative effect on the environment. This includes taking items with you that you can use for multiple purposes. One such item is dental floss. If this is your first time camping, use this guide to light a fire at your campsite, naturally with dental floss.
Step 1: Set Up the Fire Spot
Set up a safe location for your fire. Some campsites offer sand pits in which to create the flames needed. If you don't see the space right away, ask the RV park associate where you can start a fire. Surround this space with medium-sized rocks to make it even safer. Then gather dry sticks, leaves, and firewood and stack them in the sand. Put the sticks on the bottom and then layer the rest of your materials on top. If you have some old newspaper, add that as well.
Step 2: Wrap the Stick
Take the wax dental floss and wrap it around a dry stick. Tie one end of the floss around the center of the stick and wrap around to the end, leaving just a little bit hanging. The wax in the dental floss is easily flammable so it helps ignite the stick. Use as much floss as you'd like, because the more you use, the easier you can light your fire.
Step 3: Light the Floss
Use a match or lighter to set the floss on fire. It should ignite pretty quickly so keep that in mind as you're lighting it. Once the flame is steady and growing, place the stick into the wood, leaves and newspaper pile. This should light your fire easily and keep it burning well.
As you're enjoying the fire that you lit easily, other campers may wonder how you got yours lit so fast while they are still rubbing their sticks together, but getting nowhere. Look around your campsite for other ways to use dental floss while you're "roughing it." The more ideas you come up with, the more you'll be able to enjoy the camping experience without using chemicals or other items that can potentially harm the environment.
